Dr. Fereidoon Shahidi, PhD, is a university research professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). He has been a most highly cited scientists beginning with the 1991-2001 decade.He is the author of over 800 research papers and book chapters, an author or editor of 64 books and 10 patents. He has received numerous awards from different societies, including the “Millipore Sigma/ Nicholas Pellik – AOCS Research Award” in 2017, also the Stephan Chang Award and the Fellow Award from both the ACS and the AOCS as well as the Advancement of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and service awards from the AGFD of ACS. Dr. Shahidi’s work has been cited over 60,000 times and has received an h-index of 116. His extensive list of presentation, have led to the advancement of the discipline of food lscience, functional foods and nutraceuticals, among others, at both the national and international levels. Dr. Shahidi has served on many committees, nationally and internationally, and served as an elected member of the Scientific Council of the IUFoST (2016-2018) and is now the chair-elect of that council. Dr. Shahidi is the principal founder of the International Society for Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods (ISNFF). and the founder of its first journal, Journal of Functional Foods. He now serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Food Bioactives, a dedicated journal published by ISNFF and Associates. His latest activity is serving as the editor-in-chief of a new open access journal on Food Production.
